For crowds that get too close
Clubs. Raves. Festivals. Crowded trains. Airports.
Shoulders touching. Bags everywhere.
Your zipper can be inches from someone else's hands.
A padlock with a key isn't made for this.
The usual answer is a padlock. A key means carrying another thing.
Then finding the key, and the keyhole, in a crowded place is tough.
Then keeping it somewhere you won't lose it. Ever lost your keys?
For something that lives on your everyday bag, that's a lot of friction.
A numbers lock isn't much better.
Try dialing one in a dark club or a rave.
You can't see the wheels. You're surrounded by people. Music is blasting. You're trying to get back to your friends.
So we made Bloom.
Bloom uses a micro-direction joystick.
Five moves. Four directions. Your pattern.
Press. Move. Open.
No keys. No numbers. No app.
Try the gesture
Set your pattern.
Press, flick, flick, flick, flick, click. That's the whole thing.
On the real thing, the pattern can be changed at any time.
Then we made Bloom worth carrying.
Bloom doesn't have to look like a lock.
The Bloom is solid brass, compact, and shaped to sit naturally alongside the things you already carry. It looks like a charm you won't want to hide.
You'll find yourself opening it for no reason.
One Bloom. More places.
Bloom isn't tied to one bag or one situation.
Move it from your handbag to your backpack. From your gym bag to your locker. From your luggage to your equipment case.
The thing changes. Your lock doesn't.

Gesture No. 01
Own a piece of the Founders Edition.
The Bloom is the first object Gesture has ever made. To mark our debut, we're introducing a strictly limited Founders Edition of 999 pieces, each individually etched from 001 to 999. It honors the people who believed in it first. The Standard Edition follows later, unnumbered.

Questions
General
Will it work with my bag?
If the bag has zipper pulls or attachment points the loop can pass through and close on. The loop fits most zipper pulls, and you can leave it attached all the time. That's the point of it.
Is it a security lock or an accessory?
Both. It locks for everyday use and looks good enough to leave visible. It's built to stop the opportunistic hand, not for high security applications like a bicycle, a gate or a shed, and it isn't weather rated.
The gesture
Can I change my pattern?
Yes, whenever you like. If you forget it, there's a reset you do with the lock open. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can someone see my pattern?
Not easily. The pad moves a fraction of an inch under your thumb and there is nothing to read on the outside. If you'd rather be sure, change it. It takes a few seconds.
Battery
What happens if the battery dies?
The Bloom stays locked. Plug in any USB-C cable, enter your pattern, and it opens. Locking never needs the battery, and a charge lasts about a year at 10 openings a day.
How many times can I open it on one charge?
Thousands. To keep it simple: at 10 openings a day, a charge lasts close to a year.
| Openings a day | Days per charge | Openings per charge |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | about 410 | about 1,600 |
| 20 | about 265 | about 5,300 |
| 100 | about 97 | about 9,700 |
Most of the charge goes on the Bloom simply waiting, so how often you open it barely changes how long a charge lasts.
Security
Can someone force it open?
Not by hand. The loop is 2.2 mm braided, case hardened steel on a latch designed for 300 N of pull, about 67 lb, and pulling on the loop cannot move the pin. After 10 wrong patterns it locks out for 10 minutes, and every 10 after that the wait doubles.
Battery
How long does it take to charge?
About three hours from empty, with any USB-C cable. It charges gently on purpose, so the battery itself is built for years of service, and you only charge it about once a year. It stops by itself when it is full, so leaving it plugged in overnight is fine.
Security
How many patterns are there?
1,024. Four directions, five moves, repeats allowed, so four times four times four times four times four. Up, up, up, up, up counts as one of them. Pressing the center starts the gesture; it isn't a move.
That sounds small, and on its own it would be. The lockout is what matters: ten wrong patterns and the Bloom stops listening for 10 minutes, and every ten after that the wait doubles, 20 minutes, then 40, then 80. Trying every pattern would take years, standing at your bag.
Founders Edition
How does the Founders List help me get a Founders Edition piece?
The Founders Edition is 999 pieces, numbered in the order purchases are completed, and they sell first come, first served. The Founders List is a head start on that queue: join it with your email, and you get an invite code and a full day to buy, from 12:00 PM Pacific on November 14, before the store opens to the public at 12:00 PM Pacific on November 15. Buying in that day is the best chance there is of getting a piece, and the earlier you buy, the lower your number. It's free, and it doesn't hold a piece for you. The day ahead is the advantage.
How is my number assigned?
In the order purchases are completed, 001 onward.
Will the Bloom be available after the 999 sell out?
Yes. The Bloom is our flagship lock and the Standard Edition follows shortly after this drop: the same solid brass, the same five move gesture, unnumbered, in regular packaging. The etched number and the Founders hallmark belong to the first 999 only, and there will never be another Founders Edition.
Orders
When does it launch?
November 15. Early access buys from 12:00 PM Pacific on November 14. Whatever is left opens to the public at 12:00 PM Pacific on November 15.
What does it cost?
$135 for the Founders Edition. Shipping costs and a preview of checkout come by email on November 13, 48 hours before the drop, so nothing is a surprise at the checkout screen.
What does joining the Founders List cost?
Nothing. No payment, no deposit, just an email. Unsubscribe from any email at any time.
Where do you ship?
The Founders Edition ships within the United States. If you're elsewhere, join the Founders List anyway: the Standard Edition opens more countries.
